Greetings There used to be a wishlist thread - cant find it so I will start a new one I have a suggestion for future V24 Web GUI. I would like to see a setup option which would have a pull-down for a session timeout value. (never, 5, 10, 20 minutes) This would allow a router to time out the http, https or telnet session after a pre-set time period. This is currently a 'security' hole where once logged in, a new browser window could be opened with no password prompt
more space for jffs....maybe more compression on the new v24.... it would be nice if wrtbwlog was built into the firmware
In Access Restrictions/Edit List of PC , Increase the number of MACs, IPs and Ranges. In Access Restrictions increase the number of Website Blocking by URL Address and Website Blocking by Keyword
ARP table to show all the current connections. Currently get wireless, wired DHCP, not wired fixed IP.
Generell Bandwidth Limit on WLAN My wish for the next release. The possibility to limit the up - and download limit on the wlan only. like: 1024kbit download and 128 kbit upload greats MikeA
I have one Item i'd like to put on the whishlist: Have the option to Enter a Username / Password for the openvpn client in addition to the certificates. Many thanks for this great firmware, and a healthy, lucky and successful new year 2006! Stephan
Quota for separate users (by mac) up/down limits for separate users (also it could be by mac) Happy new year!!! :drinking:
It would be very nice to support AOSS. AOSS is a technology that allow you to connect your Nintendo DS to the routeur without entering a key. Furthermore, the Nintendo DS is limited to "no encryption" or "WEP". We certainly don't want to decrease the WIFI encryption from WPA to WEP to support the DS. So adding AOSS would be a good way to handle this problem.
1) configurable session timeout 2) more slots for website blocking 3) BETTER LOGGING!!! or at least better documentation. i'm still not sure what low/med/high mean. 3a) ability resolve ip's in logs 3b) ability to email logs (or save them to a share???) 3c) set log buffer size (or at least find out what it is) 4) ids-type functionality so that it emails you when something "bad" happens 4a) save / email firewall log... 5) email and/or log critical router events basically, i don't really care about adding new features. i just want to know what the router is doing and what kind of traffic is going through it and where...
here's another one: rename _generic and _router files to "_web" and "_tftp" that would eliminate a ton of confusion
I second this request! It would be great if you could do this fairly easily via a web-enabled page. That way you don't have to do TONS of scriping in Linux to make this happen. Also, ISOLATE wLAN from LAN.... if that also can be done via the web-admin configuration that would also be a great addition as it seems that question is asked over and over again. If BrainSlayer could automate those two highly valuable functions that would be super sweet.
I third this request for separate WLAN/LAN via web GUI and perhaps dual WAN. It is indeed a rather common howto question.
Lock client mode channel I would like to be able to define the client mode channel. I know what network I connect to, but with all the noise around here, my WIFI card gets confused, and loses the channel. (So does the 54). So it would be a great help, if whn I define client mode - I could lock the channel numberrrrrr. /JJ BTW - GREAT PROJECT!
The ability to track bandwidth usage from ISP built into the firmware.. Would be deeply appreciated, since many ISPs stiill dont give a tracker and will ban accounts for overusage!
I am still trying all this stuff out and changing the clock speed with out all the coding would be great A way to set the clock speed in an easy drop down list.
Separating WLAN users and LAN users in the GUI would be such a nice addition to v24. I have this setup right now at a local coffee shop but I use several routers to separate the WLAN users which are the customers and the LAN computers of the employees. While I am at it, is there a WLAN isolation mode in the DD-WRT firmware? WLAN isolation mode is where no clients of the wireless network can see each other. Many customers at the coffee shop have asked me this question.
I would like to see one location in the setup to enter in all the MAC addresses with a place to put what machine/device it is. Then in the other places in the setup such as MAC filtering, Access Restrictions etc. it simply shows the enter list that you have created and allows you select which items on the list apply to this setting. This way it would only be a configuration change as each setting would still store the same information it does now. It would just be a lot easier for the user to select the machine/device.
turn of switchport interfaces. What I'd like is the a way to turn off a switchport interface from the web administration. So switch ports 1-4 could be easily turned off individually if I'm on the road. This would really come in handy for me.
By default in firmware: 1)Turn off Remote Access 2)Disable Telnet (to router) 3)Disable any other possible security holes
Blue Tooth.......... There is so much stuff running Blue Tooth now I wouldn't see the harm of having a Blue Tooth enabled router.
In the status page when you log onto the router (prior to typing in pw), the wireless part says whether the signal is encrypted or not. For the paranoid of us who check every few hours but must log onto router with pw to currently see this...
1. build-in anonymous proxy redirect. for some pre-defined sites or IP addresses, access them via a random proxy which is picked out from the build-in and updated-in-time anonymous proxy list. I believe that there are many sites which provide such list and update everyday. 2. performance tunning wizard that can guide to a best performance configuration for your choosed usage, as BT, VOIP, browsing, ftp, VPN and so on. 3. modularization the upgrade utility lists many modules like ipv6, firewall, vpn, voip, etc, that can be integrated and built into a personalized bin FM that will be upgraded into the router.
I wonder if Brainslayer even has time to read this post anyway but I too would like to see: -Dual WAN -Check box or wizard for Torrents/Gaming/etc in the firewall (that'll add on the normal tweaks even though it works pretty well with just port fowarding) -Look into the issues some people are having in this forums with disonnects from DHCP (including static DHCP) and their WAN. I too had this problem and not even sure exactly what was causing it.
There's a hardware mod for that called "electrical tape" Sorry, just had to say it. I don't mind the light really. In fact, it's kind of neat in my opinion, but I wouldn't argue with having a way to turn it off.
you could get the program to turn the light off, I don't remmeber the name of it off the top of my head, I think it's GPIO then some numbers and you can just tell it to turn the light off and have that run in a statup script.
bandwidth limiting between wan and a lan ip/mac address - upload and download - ie a specific number (50k, 100k...)
Add the ability for client mode to authenticate to wider variety of security protocols. Selfishly, against a RADIUS server, but others would be welcome as well.
Also in my wishlist... more available authentication protocols - CHAP, MSCHAP, MSCHAPv2. And option "Require secured password" in PPPoE. VPN/PPTP etc. setups.
