5.5 megs will it fit??? holy bageezus that is big firmware i bet its sweet. this is off the alchemy source, correct? then why call it talismen? call it alchemiy... lol
Installed it last night on a 1.0 GS but am unable to get port forwarding working correctly. Usually I've had port forwarding for port 3389 for Terminal Services but whenever I hit the ip address from the wan I am timing out and not actually being forwarded. Any ideas?
It was enabled, I disabled but to no aval. Any other ideas? Also, I'm not sure how hard it would be but could it be possible to add the functionality to add a simplified version of a firewall ruleset editor to the web interface?
PPPoE ???? I have WRT54GS 1.0 & I can not get a IP addres from PPPoE server. Old version DD-WRT #22 prefinal4 (Talismen) works fine. Regards.
the new prefinal5 has maybe significant issues with routing. thats why i released a testversion. my current internal feedback from testers are really low. so i hope the community can give me that what i want
ok the firmware seems to work great for me. the jffs support is great. im installing a ipkg as i am wirting this. i could not use ipk in the other releases
ROFL Yes I am. I am in Houston, TX It is 12:00AM here I am a Technician for SBC. These dep is open 24hrs.
i love working at night its sweet. i dont anymore though about this new gui?? is it on that one that i dl'd last night or has it not yet been implemented yet. i am still too sissy to upload it to my router. can i go from prefinal 21c to prefinal5 safely? or do i need to do that step up by versions god i hope not it takes 40 min to dl 5 megs sometimes more
oh crap dial up stinks 8O . can i email it to you would that make any difference in how long it takes to download
actually it would save me the time in having to set up and find them all... you could send me a link or links to where i can get them (if possible) i dont know what i really need my current build is prefinal 21c and i want to go to latest i can pm you my email if you want to sent entire files... which can be done
You need to do the step by step upgrade dont go from 2.1 to 5 you will brick the router like there is no tommorrow.
who would ever do that (put linksys official) to there routers? its likk an insult this is an outrage!! what was the linksys oficial site url again... i know i caved to easily but it saves me 20 megs download then ill do it
and i sent the emails they are in two attchment one is the baisc firmware in one zip file and the other is the full in the other zip file. it should not take that long now they are on 2 seperate zip files
LMAO! Do you still browse in bbs style? LMAO I remember when 9600 bauds was the speed deamon! LOL good old days.
laugh all you want but good ol generous motors allows me aol for 3.00 usd a month. and good ol verizon phone allows me crappy phone lines for an ungodly rate of data transfer. *COUGH* 26.4Kbps *COUGH* yeah its that bad here in the michigan sticks.. just keep you eyes open on my satelite link topis and you will see what kind of jungle i live in... im posting pics of my area as soon as i get batteries( lazy)
hury up! get the batteries i want to see the wireless sat link . btw: did you get my email with the firmwares?
im tellin ya it will be one of the greatest satelite links ever, not the longest but the most stealthy and probibly illeagle. not to mention the most wooded and im even using an old tree trunk for my tower. what you mean good ol days. your not even old enough to smoke... not that you should its a nasty habit reserved for those who like to be gross. lol and just to keep on subject: i will be using the latest dd-wrt firmware to assist me in this leap of faith as well as the wonderful bridging capabilities in the wrt54g
i believe you stated previously that you were 15 years old?? i am old enough but not dumb enough we are off topic (extremely) maybe we should jump to a general disc topic??? all in favor?
yes..... i ride my bicycle around my nieghbor hood with a laptop and a wireles nic looking for wireless networks j/k
well its been real, no shame in warriding.... i have to go to bed now its past this old mans bedtime. lol later all i will prolly have batteries tomorrow(hopefully) dd-wrt topic (at least i mentioned it..)
Just bricked a v2.2 trying to upgrade to this ver. Steps: Backup eWRT v.3 config Web-menu reset to fact defaults Reboot (soft) Hard-reset to fact defaults w/ Reboot (hard) Flash to Linksys official firmware Hard-Reset to fact defaults w/ Reboot (hard) Flash to prefinalv.5 Brick
Ok, now I have teh DD-WRT #22 prefinal5 (Talismen) ^^ My way to flash : hold reset button for 30 sec ! unplug the router, and hold again reset button for 30sec re plug the router and hold again the reset button Flash with 3.3 version hold the reset button for 30sec flash with prefinal 5 version with option "reeset to Factory Defaults" in flash tab. hold the reset button 30sec again, unpluig the router, re plug the router... And all work fine! My method to flash take here But I have some question... First, I cannot set up the router to accept https local connection... When i check the HTTPS in "Access Server" and clic in accept change, the check was not checked when i go back to the page... Now, I need some explaination for these options : - AP Watchdog - Boot Wait - Cron - Dhcpd - DNS Masq - loopback - 802.1x - NTP Client - PPTP - Routing (I think it is the routing function of teh router, but it is not redundant with the general tab ?) - SNMP - SSHD - Chillispot - JFFS2 Support - XBOX Kaid (maybe for user having an xbox conected on the router, no ?) - RFlow / MACupd - PPPOE Module Selection - Samba FS Automount (why a samba file systeme ? how does it be used ?) - WDS/Connection Watchdog I know taht is a lot thing I don't understand how it be used or what does it serve ! but if a great guy would explain to me I will be so happy ^^ Or maybe there is a web site explain it... Now it is for wireless ^^ in general tab (of wireless ^^) i don't understand what is the wireless mode (AP, Client, adhoc)... I set to AP to make my wifi working... The "WRT-radauth " tab, is it for Radius encyption ?? In the advanced tab, - Afterburner <- what is it ? Speedbooster ? - Frame Burst <- I thought that is is this option which is the speedbooster... Now a suggestion : could you put a list box with % of power for wireless ? like in the HyperWRT ^^ Ouf, I have finished, big big thanks for all can read all my post ^^ Very big thanks for who would reply to me ^^ ++ Miles PS : what is the "STP" in basic setup in "Internet Connection Type" ?
here is a debricking guide i wrote hehehe http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4539
Though I risk verging OT again (and Lord knows this threads seen enough ;-D) thanks jag, unbricked, something Linksys TS couldn't do. Now to try running prefinal5 on it again, as I really would love to see Chillispot going on
tonight or this evening i will release a updated "leaked" version. still not finished, but some bugs like the management "invalid values" are fixed. the port forwarding table is also increased and yes it comes with ipv6 support and radvd (no webinterface yet)
the zip file is now updated on http://brainslayer.braincontrol.org/dd-wrt.v22.prefinal5.zip gimme a feedback about the current stability. and note i still have no answer about rip2, ospf and bgb routing. i need this feedback. i wont release it officially until someone tested it.
prefinal5: port forwards now increased to 30 rows radvd compiled in now (no web configuration yet) ipv6 support source now compiled with gcc 3.3.5 wrt-radauth mactype and shared key type fixed webfiles updated again lzma kernel loader updated snmp map fixed (old style dd-wrt v20) wrt-radauth webmenu fixed wrt-radauth mactype fixed macupd updated dutch added portuguese (brazilian) added croatian language added gnu zebra routing exchanged with bird bgp routing code internally added (webcode not finished yet) kernel lzma compression added dropbear readded in basic firmware WRT54G V3 support
okay then i will add some left open tasks for radvd and ipv6 will release the current version officially. mmh someone should maybe enhance the french translation. still outdated
The new version seems to be very good. I really like the added port forwarding, though I won't be using it for a while (until I get more computers again...at one point I was easily using the whole list up). Anyway, thanks a lot for you work!
hi, I know that's not really useful to post that, but, nevertheless I do it. the new updated pre5 works very fine for me. forwarding, blocked services, https, dhcpd, rflow, snmp, dnsmasq, sshd, syslogd the older pre5 wasn't working with https , now that's fixed i also have seen a new(?) page : UPnP.asp upnp forwarding is that something coming next ? the page isn't reachable from web admin page , you must type it in your browser, and it looks not active. not that I wanna use upnp , it's disabled for me thanks for all your work, brainslayer and all others who contributed, even the boards admins !!! hehe i'm joking !!! regards
I've forgotten to mention that I use wireless with WPA-PSK AES key and I have some regular disconnections, few a day in some post i've been able to read that's a problem apparently fixed on the new linksys beta firmware, but, no source code is out yet. That's not a big problem for me, servers are wired to the WRT, and wireless is mostly for http.
Have flashed prefinal5 on WRT v2.2... works good so far, but : Info Page does not show that the Router is connected to provider. Chillispot does not comming up from itself after reboot, I have to start it at telnet manually, than it works. For Chillispot should it be the best to cut off Lan and Wlan. But I don´t know how to do this, so I managed it at Access Restrictions. Anybody an Idea ? Thanks
Flashing FW Can I flash directly from original Linksys to prefinal5 or I should upload some previous versions first? (for example prefinal3.3 etc) Can somebody tell me a save way? Thanks a lot!
WAN PPTP and VPN passthrough Anybody noticed that WAN PPTP doesn't work if VPN passthrough is enabled? I have to connect to my WISP with PPTP (via WAP54G in client mode) and would still like to use PPTP passed through the WRT from wireless and wired clients connected to the WRT54GS. Had the same issue with prefinal4 and got around it by disabling VPN passthrough and removing the drop rules with iptables. Best Klaus
i think that brainslyer is working toward that he would not want to put out a buggy release and slpa the work final release on it like a unmentioned company did
Same here, the Login status shows disconnected, no ip address no mask and no gateway even if it is connected
I had this same problem. I haven't had much time to play with the firmware as I would like but this is how I solved it. I use PPPoE. While I was browsing the firmware Administration/management I came across PPPoE Module selection. I am completely unfamiliar with this but always willing to try somethin new so I enabled the "RP PPPoe package". I have no idea what this is but the result was the Status page showing a connection???? Maybe Brainslayer or Jagboy could provide more info on this package. Worked for me!!!!
Problem with PPPOE ? Hi, I flashed the prefinal V5 (from V4). Internet Connection is working, but bigger downloads are very slow or stop. Also video streaming is not working good -> the video stops and it takes some time for buffering. So I went back to V4 and everything is working again. Is it possible that my saved settings from V4 are not working correctly with V5 (of course I reseted first to firmware defaults !) ? Or what could be the reason for the slow/unstable internet connection with V5 ? CU
Thanks for the link, but It wasn't what i expect ^^ My router is not "HS" (understand flashing fails), but it is only that I don't understand many option... I notice that on the previous version of firmware pre5 (not the updated ^^), the reboot sheduler doesn't work correctly ! I set it to reboot automaticaly everyday at 9h00, but it not reboot... I will test it with the new updated pre 5 ^^ Thanks for all ++ Miles edit : I put the new DDWRT firmware, and the https administation access works again ^^ coool I test the automatic reboot (scheduled), with a specific hour, it doesn't reboot ! But with a specify time (in second) it reboot every xxxx secounds ^^ Yes !!! Nice work ^^ But, I'm waiting a guide for the all functions I don't understand ... Is the Alchemi (Talismen) guide work for the DD-WRT ?
Memory Leak The memory leak in DD-WRT #22 prefinal5 appears to be worse than in prefinal4. From the Sys-Info page the free memory drops about 10 units everytime I refresh the page. But don't worry I don't sit next to my WRT refreshing the status page all day In the case of general use (very light home use) the drop is about 100 units a day. Other than that I am exceptionally happy with the firmware.
Re: Memory Leak Memory leak? I haven't noticed one. You're talking about refreshing this page, right?
no he is talking about this one. hey i nocice that. i kept refeshing the page. nd noticed that it always kept droping. but it sometimes went back up and down
The Sys-Info page is displayed at the ip addr of the WRT when enabled in Administration "Enable Status Site".
WLAN in client mode not joining Hi, I also tried v5 today (had v4 active). One thing I recognized is that after rebooting it won't join the wireless net anymore. I´ve configured it in client mode to join an existing access point. When I ssh from the wired side and enter "wl join <ssisd>" the router joins and everything seems to be fine until next reboot. Is this maybe a problem of v5 (as it worked with v4), or am I doing something wrong? Andy
I just flashed my WRT54G v3 to DD-WRT Pre5 and it seems to still be suffering from the same problem of jumping to the strongets AP when I specified a specific SSID when in client mode. Anyone having this problem?
Not sure I understand!? The config is still there, everything is configured as it should be. What I recognized though is that it doesn´t join the wireless net automatically. When I ssh to the box after reboot and do "wl status" I get a message that it´s not associated but the last ssid used is "<myssid>". As soon as I enter "wl join <myssid>" it associates with the AP. I don´t need to configure any encryption settings, keys, etc. That´s everything still there. btw: using WRT54G v2 if that matters... Andy
Ok, here we go Using WRT54G v2 hardware. Installed the dd-wrt v22 prefinal4 available from dd-wrt.com a few days ago and everything was fine as described above. After upgrading to dd-wrt v22 prefinal5 (the second version of the zip file posted in this thread) I ecountered the problems described above. When upgrading I didn´t select any reset to factory default or something like this, but kept the previously used config. The question is, did I do something wrong during the upgrade or are there also other people that experience the same issues with wireless configured in client mode in the new version? Andy
Hi ! Thank's for the great work. This firmware rock's I was using HyperWRT 2.1b and then upgrade to DD-WRT v4. by web interface and Wireless connection. Had, no problem. Then I upgrade tou DD-WRT v5 the same way and no problem either. I did'nt do any reset to factory and reset default. Cause I loose the Wirless connection and have to go with wired connection. that make me open my PC and a ethernet card. But when I go to QoS setting, I have some error when trying to set those feauture. (They was set in HyperWRT) My question is: What's de difference between "Firmware Defaults" and "Factory Defaults" when ugrading the firmware ? His "Firmware Defaults" will activate Wireless ? cause "Factory Default" dose'nt. Any tips is welcome
While testing prefinal5 I found a little typo. When opening the page "Setup->VLANs" it states in the left most column still "Port Range Forward". I believe that was the orginal site this form has been copied from !? Andy
will this version allow me to open sshd on port 443 the router and make it work via WAN?? i'm trying to do it with alchamy 1.0 final and it is not working..... if anyone know how to do this please direct me to the right place with the right information.. thank you ~chad
look around http://hetos.de/sshtut.html i think you might find what you are looking for there this is what you are looking for right??????
