I just had to reinstall WinXP and cannot find my original install disk for my WMP54G V2 Wireless PCI adaptor. To my surprise, Linksys does not have the driver available on their website. Does anyone know where I can get it? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
cos ur desktop is running XP, you can try NetCheck by hitting up linksysfix.com/check. does this desktop have a built-in Ethernet port? if it does then hook this up to your router or modem, and run NetCheck. it should automatically install the drivers for this device and checks for errors as well when you had to reinstall your OS. you need an active Internet connection when you have to run NetCheck. just hit yes when you're being prompted to download the ActiveX control. good luck.
I've been searching this site too long for these drivers. Could please someone give me a direct link to them??
Use the Broadcom driver provided in the above link at the end of the topic. LinkSys only provides a very old and limited driver for the v2 series. The Broadcom-one is much more recent and provides better speeds, better reception and extra features. LinkSys sucks when it comes to driver support.
I haven't tried the above Broadcom driver but I do have the original. I downloaded the WMP54G drivers from linksys - they caused a lot of problems. I kept getting disconnected from my router or would lose the ability to connect to anything until I restarted. I obtained that software here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WMP54G Maybe this one is version 1??? I don't know. It caused me a lot of problems. For the original software that came with the card (PKW-WMP54GV2) you can go here: http://www.4shared.com/file/3AluNhhZ/WMP54G.html (Click the blue download button) I posted a picture of my card and the software so you can make sure you are using the right one. This one worked great with my card.
