Something interesting is that the eth2 seems to be identical for you, sydneyrob and Makaveli which was probably set by XWRT. Did you create the vlan2 on your own because I don't have a vlan2.

    @sdhosdho, @sydneyrob, and @Makaveli:

I found the vlan2, I did just ifconfig which didn't include vlan2 but ifconfig -a does. Am I correct that the eth2 you guys are showing is actually 00:22:15:A5:03:04? As that seems to be a MAC Address for ASUS hardware since that was what I had before I fixed my Mac Addresses, it's basically known as the 1:macaddr setting so it seems even 380.xx and possibly earlier changed the eth2 already. I wonder does the stock NETGEAR firmware even have a MAC Address for eth2 or not as the later may be the reason.

Did you ever figured this out? How do I remove that line "nvram erase?"
    I have a r7000 and I can't figure it out.

I was on 380.69, no traffic manager. I was able to put the url in directly to get there but it wasnt on the side menu. I reset defaults and upgraded to 380.70, reset defaults; then upgraded to 384.4_2, reset defaults...no traffic manager. I've cleared cache, used different browsers. How to I get it to show up in the left hand column?

Edit: Ignore, just saw the earlier response to this, going to try those directions.

It is still possible to open traffic manager on new tab:
    https://192.168.1.1:8443/Main_TrafficMonitor_realtime.asp
    http://192.168.1.1/Main_TrafficMonitor_realtime.asp
http and https, depends how you connect to your router.

Is it just me or latest fw gets mac of the device I'm setting router on in WAN MAC? How do I change it and to what?

you're correct, @Almighty1. My eth2 is 00:22:15:A5:03:04. Unfortunately, I do not have a backup of stock NETGEAR firmware to verify what the original sequence could be.

I'm trying to get back to NG fw. I was able to load back to stock fw V1.0.3.80_1.1.38, but can't get the latest fw to load. I get "This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product."

There is no routerlogin.net debug.htm and I get 404 for that page. Even trying to go back XWRT gives the same message.

    Any help?

Yes, the CFE was damaged and restoring a backup I made of it back in 2015 fixed the issue. I did issue all the burn commands prior to restoring the CFE.

Am I out of luck if I didn't back up the CFE? The router works just fine on stock firmware and XWRT. Just can't get DD-WRT to work properly without rebooting and having everything defaulted.

Well, final release 380.70_0 of the XWRT-Vortex 380.xx series (legacy branch) for R7000 is available.
The focus of this release was to address a couple of security-related issues.
Please backup your settings and jffs partition data prior to upgrade.

R7000 have been migrated to the new gen branch, as of release 384.4.
Remember, to come to 384/NG from 380 You MUST flash the 380.70 build first.

It does look like there are variables in CFE needed for AiMesh to work. This is at least what this service "cfeditor" leads to believe.

I restored my r7000 with v1.0.3.80_1.1.38. Netgear router screen opens and router works. But cannot open debug.htm (error404) nor do i see a dev screen. Cannot upgrade to any other firmware version since it says firmware version invalid. Tried telnetenable. Says it does something but doesnt in reality. Telnet not reachable. TFTP Dont have USBTTL cable. Any suggestions what to do? router kind of works but cant move away from this old version and would need a vpn client which old netgear doesnt have.

I wonder if a new NETGEAR router running stock even has a eth2 since one has to wonder what eth2 is actually used for since shouldn't all the devices just see the R7000 as one MAC address regardless if it's the WAN, LAN or WLAN?

Did you use the telnetenable2 from this link?

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/tcen54n6k66yu58/telnetenable2.zip

    Follow instructions in post #5366

Make sure you use the lan mac address that you see in the netgear gui (not the one the poster uses) as it is not the one printed under your router. Your boardid, sn and mac are all corrupted. I am 99% positive.

The debug.htm page was not available to me until I put "R7000-V1.0.9.18_1.2.27.chk" on the router.

You have to fix the boardid first to upgrade from earlier stock firmwares.

Something clearly is missing. Please assembly router back to normal working condition. Power it on, use it (you may need to do router reset by pushing pin in a hole). Sometime later I suggest to review all stuff step by step. In my opinion something is missed. I go offline for now.

router still works :) with stuck V1.0.3.80_1.1.38
"I tried various pin connections" - pin connection in router, not pins USB-TTL (for example 5V)
"ask a friend / neighbour / someone who you know for a help" - I think I'm not so stupid, but I do not have experience with router debrick via USB-TTL ;)
I tried 2 laptops, but they have Win10 64bit ... I understand, I have to use older driver, not last one from profilic ... (PL2303HX is not oryginal not made by profilic ;) )
BTW - conwerter USB to TTL with CP2102 is OK too for connection router<>laptop ?

Before the PL2303 was dead, I made a test of the USB-TTL converter (Tx and Rx bridge, converter connected to USB laptop), Putty and connection by serial - in the black window I could write, which was the answer. I understand that it worked (now no longer).
I connected (router and converter) the pins: Tx to Rx, Rx to Tx, GND to GND (I think so). I launched putty, serial configuration (115200, 8, 1, no, no), a window with a green cursor started up. Then the router start (ON) and then Ctr-C - nothing happened in the black window).
The cost PL2303HX is one euro, and CP2102 is two euros ...;)

Make sure to check your Windows "Device Manager" for your adapter. It will get assigned a COM port. It will likely increment itself by 1 when you unplug and plug it in etc.. so COM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.... Make sure you are monitoring the correct COM port in putty when you go to connect.

    My questions are:
    - do I connect the converter and router pins corectly (I already seen two versions of pin positions in R7000)?
    - I definitely have a good converter?
    - order/when start putty and router (only OFF and ON?)

I mean you can't connect [adapter Tx] to [router Rx].
But you can connect [adapter Tx] to [adapter Rx]. It would be a simple looptest.
[Emer1], Most likely you was monitoring wrong COM connection :D Sorry for cluttering main thread, I am done here [no more help]. Please delete all posts about USB-ttl adapters.

If you are correctly monitoring the com port, it doesn't matter when you turn the router on or off. Data will start to stream once the unit is turned on. Typically you want the router plugged in, then start putty and monitor the proper com port, then turn the router on and watch your screen.

    CFE> burnboardid U12H270T00_NETGEAR
    Invalid command: "burnboardid"
    *** command status = -1

emer1, I am not 100% sure and one of the people who have actually done the procedure can correct me but didn't the directions indicate to do the burnboard commands from telnet after the router is in dev mode? Which is doable after you enable telnet with the NetGearTelnet tool.
I think CFE is a lower level, like pre-code load.

I finally switched to 380.70. I reverted to official Netgear but my stock cfe was corrupted and I fixednit with telnet and burn commands. I was able to flash latest official Netgear in this way. So I flashed 380.70 but I got 00:22:15:A5:03:04 on eth2 (wifi 5G) and got the same issues when media bridge router connects and no other device can connect to 5g network. So I changed the Mac addresses for eth2 in nvram accordling with my main macaddress aca now all works.
I'll stick with this setup and see if it's more stable than NG.
I only miss let's encrypt feature. Is there any way to set this in 380.70? I use duckdns custom script for ddns.

After rebooting, did the 0:macaddr actually stick or did it also change to e6:73? I'm not 100% sure that eth2 is the 5Ghz WiFi because eth2 on mines is :7A but on something that connects to the 5Ghz, arp -a shows it as the main :78 which is used for et0macaddr as well as 0:macaddr, the :79 from nvram changed on it's own after rebooting.

I never had a issue when 00:22:15:A5:03:04 was used either on 5Ghz clients.

You're right that 1:macaddr sticks but 0:macaddr doesn't seem to stick with what you set it as 0:macaddr seems to duplicate et0macaddr when though when I set and commit, 0:macaddr was actually :79. You can try setting 0:macaddr and rebooting and you will find that 0:macaddr will change to the same Mac address as et0macaddr after the reboot.

What I was trying to say is that even though my 1:macaddr shows :7A - everything connected to 5Ghz WiFi seems to see the router as :78 which is what is on 0:macaddr and et0macaddr. Are you actually seeing the eth1 mac address when you do arp -a on a device connected to the 5Ghz WiFi because it seems all connections are going through br0's Mac Address which bridges all the different interfaces while eth0 seems to be the WAN interface.

I am still losing wifi connection from time to time. I was streaming music and all of a sudden lost connection (blackberry playbook). It reconnects by itself afterwards. My wife also complained about losing connection from time to time (iphone 5S).

Having thought it was 2.4GHz specific issue, I have turned off the 2.4GHz completely. It happens to the 5GHz as well.

I wonder how you guys set the wifi with 2.4GHz and 5.0 GHz simultaneously. If i set both on the same SSID, would that solve the problem? Is this what simultaneous dual bands is supposed to do?
I suspect likely your main problem is the default country code for this custom firmware is #a, wich basically means all countries channels, and no power restrictions.

The issue is if you leave your channels (2.4 and 5.0) on "AUTO", then it is likely going to dynamically switch at some point in time to a channel that your clients wont support. So is best to set your country code with the scripts (or just manually input them into nvram), and then also manually set 2.4 and 5.0 to run on a specific

Please don’t make out I don’t know what I’m doing, been using this firmware for the last 3 years, I know how to set the country code by script, the router did indeed reboot afterwards so it accepted it, but still I’m getting drop outs, like the the member said, you are doing something heavy on the Wi-fi, streaming a video over YouTube for over 3 minutes or moving a file to your nas, using a device like a smart phone, or computer, you get thrown in to local mode, any file transfers get stopped, some times the internet comes back and most of the time it doesn’t and you have to turn your devices Wi-fi off then on, even reconnecting can be an issue and you reconnect back on a local connection, meaning no internet, so you have to repeat the process of turning off Wi-fi then turning it back on and (hope) it connects you to the network with internet, and no, my connection isn’t being repeated and no both bands are separate, meaning I have a 5ghz band and a 2.4 ghz band, this is a firmware issue and use to be a problem with the early Version of certain xwrt till it got fixed, (I believe it got fixed at the point we got a new Wi-fi driver in the firmware ) now it seems to have come back in this new generation of xwrt, to be honest I am looking at leaving the project unless it gets sorted out in a timely manner, which it didn’t in the older builds of xwrt, the family are complaining saying we should buy a new router

I think this NG branch is in early beta stage, some things might not work correctly.
Some people moved back to legacy build.
    I moved to tomato FW.

I understand how u guys feel. I was having issues at the beginning, not sure how mine got fixed but i did erased the router mutliple times and I also jnstalled the custom CFE. Im currently running the latest FW384 and using skynet, absolutions, pixelserv, VPN and FreshJR QOS Adaptive scrpits with 0 issues...lets hope a future released fixes the wifi disconnects that some of you are having...

Detailed changelog for NG branch 384 builds:
    https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/changelog-382
If you want to install this FW upgrade please download from here:
    http://xvtx.ru/xwrt/download.htm
But actually it is early beta stage. That means: not availailable for some routers and some stuff works incorrectly.

In tomato FW and stock FW you set bridge 0: 192.168.2.1
How did you set it in XWRT? By default XWRT takes 192.168.1.1 as default. Your modem that you use already has 192.168.1.1.

It's pretty clear your login info is wrong.
